Curious what makes Belmont so special? From its brand-new library and skating rink to its beloved Halloween traditions and open green spaces, it’s easy to see why people fall in love with this town. Tree-lined streets, top-ranked schools, and a welcoming community— there’s so much to love about The Town of Homes. These thoughts are my own.
Belmont offers the best of both worlds — a peaceful, small-town atmosphere just eight miles from downtown Boston. Residents love that they can enjoy a quiet suburban lifestyle while staying close to the energy, culture, educational and career opportunities of Cambridge and Boston.
Belmont’s schools consistently rank among the best in Massachusetts, known for academic excellence, caring teachers, and strong parent involvement. Education has always been a cornerstone of the community — and that commitment continues with the brand-new Belmont Middle and High School campus, a state-of-the-art facility designed for the next generation of learners.
Every corner of Belmont has its own charm. Belmont Hill is known for its elegant, estate-style homes and sweeping views. Winn Brook offers a classic, close-knit neighborhood feel — walkable to schools, parks, and the town center. Nearby, Walnut Hill and Clark Hill feature tree-lined streets, period architecture, and a quiet residential setting just minutes from everything.
The Presidential Neighborhood, with streets named for past U.S. presidents, is filled with handsome Tudor Style and Colonial homes that reflect Belmont’s mid-century growth and enduring sense of community. The Pleasant StreetHistoric District showcases some of Belmont’s finest Victorian homes that tell the story of the town’s early prosperity and charm.
Cushing Square and Waverley Square blend the convenience of commuter access with a strong neighborhood identity — peaceful residential streets, welcoming neighbors, and a real sense of home. Each part of Belmont has its own rhythm, yet all are connected by pride of place and a shared appreciation for the town’s beauty and balance.
Belmont continues to evolve while holding onto its historic character. Recent community investments include a brand-new public library, a modern skating rink, and the Belmont Middle and High School campus — all reflecting a town that believes in progress, education, and shared spaces that bring people together.
Belmont is a town that comes together. Town Day, the annual Holiday Tree Lighting, then Farmers Market, and countless local fundraisers bring neighbors together year-round. And in October, Hillcrest Road transforms into one of Greater Boston’s most beloved Halloween destinations, drawing families and trick-or-treaters from across the region for a night of fun, creativity, and community. It’s Belmont’s spirit — in costume form.
Nature is never far away. Locals cherish Rock Meadow and Lone Tree Hill for peaceful walks and birdwatching, while Beaver Brook Reservation is a favorite for families and dogs alike. And at the Mass Audubon Habitat Sanctuary, visitors enjoy nearly 90 acres of trails, meadows, and educational programs — right in the heart of town. Belmont proves you can live close to Boston and still feel close to nature.
Belmont’s three village centers — Belmont Center, Cushing Square, and Waverley Square — each have their own character and charm. Whether you’re grabbing a latte at a local café, shopping at a boutique, or enjoying a meal at one of the town’s beloved eateries, these vibrant hubs make daily life feel special.
From turn-of-the-century Victorians to stately Colonials and modern updates, Belmont’s architecture tells the story of a community that values design, preservation, and pride of ownership. Homes here are as distinctive as the people who live in them.
