Today I had the privilege of handing the keys to my buyers at 32 Bellis Circle in Cambridge. It's one of those closings that reminds me that buying a home isn't just about finding the right property—it's about discovering how you want to live.
My clients were first-time buyers with a strong budget and one clear goal: to put down roots in Cambridge or Brookline. They also understood the reality of today's market. At their price point, the most likely outcome was a condominium, so that's where our search began.
For nearly a year, we toured condos throughout Cambridge and Brookline. Some were beautiful. A few came close.
Then, over time, the conversation changed.
We stopped talking so much about floor plans and finishes and started talking about life.
"If we have a baby someday, how do we carry groceries and a stroller inside?"
"How does it work if another unit controls the heat?"
"What if we want to make improvements, but the condo association has different priorities?"
These weren't questions about whether condos are good or bad. Condominiums are an excellent fit for many buyers. But their questions made it clear that they valued the independence, privacy, and flexibility that come with owning a single-family home.
That realization naturally reshaped our search. We continued looking at condos while keeping an eye out for the rare single-family opportunity that might check all the boxes.
Then 32 Bellis Circle came along.
Tucked away on a quiet street near Porter Square, it felt like a hidden gem. A charming two-bedroom, two-bath home with beautifully updated kitchen and baths, a private garden, and an inviting front porch built around a graceful pear tree. It offered everything they appreciated about the manageable size of many condos, with the freedom and privacy of a single-family home.
The best outcomes don't end with a closing—they end with clarity. For these buyers, that clarity led them to a home they may never have expected to own when we first began our search: a charming Cambridge single-family that fits the lifestyle and future they are building.
